An Efficient Solution for Remote User Authentication Using DNA Crypto and Steganography
Authentication is a procedure of validating the user to access the system based on the user credentials to prove identity. It is regarded as one of the crucial characteristics of information security. Various techniques have been proposed among which the Password-based schemes for user authentication is still prevailing considered to other authentication schemes. A secure password is generally alphanumeric which is challenging to remember and the extensive use of electronic services prompts the user to reuse passwords which makes the e-services vulnerable to various attacks. The graphical password based authentication techniques have been proposed to control the problems related to challenging passwords and their usability. Nevertheless, it has certain limitations such as vulnerability to shoulder surfing attack. The proposed method is an efficient scheme that achieves mutual authentication based on DNA Cryptography, Steganography, message digest and the combination of text or Pin and image-based passwords. The authentication is multilayered and also allows the user to choose and change their passwords. The proposed scheme also ensures usability and security.
